Over the coming weeks we’re going to be guiding you through some of the gorgeous new season trends, showing you how to wear them and sharing our favorite picks from the high street.
Even though it’s still cold out there, that doesn’t mean you can’t start to enjoy the lighter and brighter mood of the new season. Updating your look often isn’t about buying the latest “trendy” items but tweaking what you have to put a new spin on them. You probably already have several “on-trend” pieces in your wardrobe, even if they are last years (or older)! Here are our simple tips to get you started:

Express yourself
The first rule of fashion this season is that there are no rules. Find what you like and pick and choose the styles and trends that express your personality.

Lift your mood with colour
There’s no better time to inject some colour into your look, from fluro brights to pretty pastels there is sure be a tone out there to suit you. As a general rule the paler palette will work best on fairer ladies, whilst those with darker colouring should opt for bolder tones.

Go bright and but stay warm
It’s only February so coloured knitwear will give a nod to springs candy colours whilst keeping you cosy.

Wear a silk scarf
Inject some colour and print easily with a silk scarf. They are fabulous multi-taskers: wear around your neck, tie onto your bag, fold and wear as a headband or belt! And in paisley, floral, tribal or animal the choice is yours…

Mix your prints
For a bolder take on print, combine different prints in the same outfit. Keep it chic by matching colour tones e.g. soft, bright, light, dark etc

Invest in transitional footwear
New footwear always does wonders to freshen up your look. Why not take inspiration from Isabel Marant with some Cuban heeled ankle boots in soft tan or grey. Wear them now with jeans or tights and bare legs and cute dresses in the summer. Shoes that work year round are worth investing in!

If you only buy one thing…
A new bag is one of the easiest and most economical ways to update your look as you carry it everyday. Be as bold as you dare… it’s a great way to add colour, and easier to wear as it’s not near your face (most of the time!)

Embellish your look
Statement jewelry can really transform an ordinary look into something with pizazz, and decorative details are huge for this season. Choose from coloured crystal neckpieces, chandalier earrings, chunky cuffs and cocktail rings… and not just for night!
It’s still early, but packing away anything you know you won’t wear until next winter will mean you can see what you have what you need to buy.
So go on, dress yourself happy!
