One very chilly autumn day, I decided to retrieve my box of winter woollies which were stored away as always with a bag of lavender (to keep moths at bay!) Apart from the lovely smell when I open the box there is that initial exciting moment in wondering what fabulous fashion items I may have forgotten that I had. The first thing to hand was a fine stretch black polo neck a favorite basic for winter layering, looking a bit faded I am thrilled to see they are a big trend for autumn/winter 2012.

As well as being seen at the Dior Show in Paris, I have spotted a few closer to home. Topshop, Gap and Uniqlo online all have some good quality ones so a replacement will be easy. Besides being extremely versatile when it comes to layering they also look great with a statement skirt.
The black polo also exudes for me Parisian chic and conjures up pictures of the Left Bank at the height of the Existentialist period where the great artists and writers of that time frequented the cafes of Montparnasse, such as Le Coupole where philosophy was thick in the smokey air…

Remember Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face all in black, the skinny black pants, the trench, ooh la la, simplicty at its best .

A tout a l’heure!
