Early Spring Wardrobe Updates!

Early Spring Wardrobe Updates!

We made it through January yay!  Yes it’s freezing cold buy we can finally look forward to the coming Spring and that of course means the perfect excuse for a little shopping!  We love the start of a new season, seeing the new collections making their way into stores, mentally adding items to our wishlist!  Those of you who shop early know only too well the best pieces can be snapped up at this time.  The first drop of the Spring collections are a lot more wearable for the Irish climate than high Summer making it the ideal time to snap up those key pieces.

So if your looking for some inspiration for stylish pieces to update your wardrobe now – here are some picks that we are loving!  While it’s fun to shop new season trends, we think it’s important that fashion fits in with your life not the other way around, there’s no point buying the latest “must have” if you know realistically that you will never wear it… Just a little fashion practicality!
SHOPPING TIP:  Always make sure you have at least 3 items in your wardrobe you can wear it with.

The Bomber Jacket

This is a piece you will see loads of on the high street, (in fact “trophy jackets in general) and if you are going to buy a trend, why not go the whole hog with this gorgeous floral print bomber.  Pair with a shirt and cropped trousers for work or go casual with a simple T-shirt and boyfriend jeans (also ideal with good ol’ skinnies if that’s how you roll!)

The Denim Skirt

Well denim anything really!  But we really like the length of this one from River Island with front split, many of the denim skirts on offer are on the shorter side so this is a great option if you prefer more coverage.  Depending on your height a heel will probably be more flattering with this length.  How to style?  So many ways… how about a striped T-shirt (see below), simple sweatshirt, fine knitwear or go all 70’s boho with a frilled blouse and floppy hat!

The Striped Top

I know, stripes for Spring, what a surprise!  But really this is a classic and Cos always do a good striped top.  This one is actually more of a sweater than T-shirt which we like, smarten this up for work by layering a white collared-shirt underneath or pair with the denim skirt above!

The Suede Cross Body Bag

This tan suede bag is the perfect nod to this seasons love for 70’s bohemia, You will see lots of different versions of this but you can’t beat real leather and this one has lovely detailing (studs, stitching, part chain strap).  This would look gorgeous with flirty chiffon dresses, anything denim or khaki (hot summer colours), we love the size, just throw in the essentials and go!  If you haven’t heard of this brand they’re so worth checking out (Stories.com) particularly if you’re a fan of Cos as they are a sister company.

 The Culotte

Wether or not you’re a fan of culottes, you will see them everywhere and they do grow on you!  They are a big part of this seasons love of relaxed tailoring, all clean lines and loose shapes.  What’s nice about these is the length as the mid-calf or ankle length styles can be tricky to pull off (especially if you have short legs!)  These have a lovely flow and who doesn’t love navy for Spring?

 The Wrap Blouse

For a smart, polished look but with a relaxed feel, we really like the almost “Kimono” style of this blouse and the shade of green is a winner (would work great with the above culottes).  This style is also very flattering for a larger bust.  Can be dressed down with jeans and sandals or add drama with a statement necklace!
